HOF Talk: Lorenzo de' Medici

So the guy made a dozen All-Star teams? So what, right? And who cares about four Egans and three more times on in the top three. And then there’s the fact that he, O’Macken, and that dude from Rockville pretty much defined the role of stopper in those early years.

My thoughts on him in the other thread:
Lorenzo de' Medici: I voted for him last time. I'll vote for him again. But I could be argued out of it. I view him as a creation of his time, but the fact is that he played when Ks mattered the most, and he was a K monster. Go figure.
I admit I’ve begrudgingly come fully to de’ Medici’s dark side.

51 WAR in 20 years as a reliever will kinda do that. Career K-rate of 38%. Those were heady days for relievers. Anymore stoppers get discounted. But back in the day, man … back in the day, guys like de’ Medici made All-Star teams.

A lot of them.

Come on guys. He should have been in on the first ballot. Stop looking at just WAR and really look at his body of work.

Voted yes. Also voted for O'Macken to make it a stopper HoF ceremony (Hopefully).

I was originally skeptical but I voted for him last year and am voting for him again. We'll see if he can get closer than under 50 percent (yikes)

Never stopped voting for him.

Another example of a guy who if you can't vote for him then you can't vote for any relievers.

I'm probably a hard sell on any reliever generally. But yeah he's definitely top tier.

Not even really a reliever when he had more IP than many starters.

Bumping this one to encourage folks to vote yes. Molina should show you how important a stopper can be.
