# Regarded as the 3rd wheel in Rockville for much of his career, Martin nonetheless was a massive reason why Rockville has been a dynasty for the last decade+. Many people (including myself) thought that Rockville overpaid in sending highly regarded prospect Jim Armstrong to New Orleans for a guy that had bounced between the pen (he has over 100 career saves) and the rotation, but boy they sure made it work.

He would be an absolutely yes even if he didn't play for me. Did you see the second act of his career? WAR totals from 2036 to 2042: 5.4, 6.1, 6.4, 6.2, 5.1, 6.5, 6.9. That's a seven year stretch of absolutely dominant pitching.

2 20-win seasons. Multiple top-3 finishes in Steve Nebraska voting. 131 wins in his first 8 Rockville seasons (average of 16+ per year) before blowing out his arm in year 9.

Him being underrated in New Orleans shouldn't keep him out of the Hall. They can't all be Steve Nebraska.

Honestly, I see his career arc a little like David Wells or Kenny Rogers. He just didn't pitch into his 40s.

And his peak was better than either of those two guys.

He's the third guy in one of the most famous rotations in BBA history, which also makes him famous by association at least.

Martin earned 18% his first season, enough to win him consideration again.

18% isn't nearly enough for this guy. Can you imagine where his numbers would be if he didn't spend his first five years in the bullpen?
