# Dan the Man was a very good in his first seven-plus season, all with the Atlantic City Gamblers. During that time, Cannon won a strikeout title and ripped off four All-Star appearances, but an 80-75 record and 4.03 ERA had many to believe he was far from a Hall of Fame shoo-in. At age 26, Cannon was shipped to Rockville and put up an 8-6 record with a 4.67 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. Then the light went off. The popular southpaw would go on to rip off nine-straight All-Star appearances for the Pikemen, including one of the most dominating stretches in recent pitching history: From 2039-2041, Cannon went 51-23 and led in ERA (3.06; next closest was Carlos Valle at 3.30), FIP (3.08; second was Valle at 3.42), WAR (23.0; second was Hector Marquez at 20.5), and WHIP (1.09; second was Valley at 1.11), en route to three consecutive Nebraska Awards. Cannon dominated late into his career and was the cornerstone of the great Rockville teams during the 30s and early 40s.

We gave him five weeks of vacation, but it all has to be spent in Wisconsin.

im about to go on vacation so i dont have my lists handy, but i do remember those pre 1995 guys screw the averages quite a bit. If you break it down into the modern era only guys (which i have done) he looks a bit better.

i took your post to mean your incredulity at how a slam dunk like cannon is "below the average".

Uh, nah I was just being a contrarian to the people who said he's a no doubt. Hoping for someone to take the bait. And no, I don't think you took the bait.

That is an interesting way to take it though and the pre-1995 weird stuff makes sense. But Cannon is probably the best SP in my time in the BBA. I'm sure I'm forgetting some guys, but he was so dominant with Rockville. He was also really good with AC before and pitched decent well a long time.
