McNeill, a sweet-swinging switch hitter, could do it all: run (577 career stolen bases), hit for average (one batting title, lifetime .290 hitter), hit for power (469 career HR, 569 career doubles, lifetime .522 slugging), and field (.994 fielding percentage in nearly 18,000 chances). McNeill racked up so many regular season awards (plus two postseason series MVP trophies, to boot), you could melt a few down to forge an Emmy for his wife and you wouldn’t notice. Aside from all the stats and money (McNeill made over $225M in career earnings), the only thing missing was a championship ring. But that’s what happens when you’re the face of the Yellow Springs Nine for a decade and a half.
