# Brewer, despite spending half his career behind a mask and his back to the fans, was one of the most popular players of his generation, and rightfully so. Brewer is regarded as one of the best catchers, if not the best, during his playing days, a majority of that as a cornerstone of the Las Vegas Hustlers powerhouse teams of the 20s and 30s. In the modern era, Brewer ranks first in runs by a catcher (1212) and fifth in hits for a catcher (2240). All-time amongst fellow catchers, Brewer retired with the tenth-highest OPS (.838) and his career 68.0 WAR is sixth-best.

Yup. Had all the pedigree and didn't quite pass Dex Sheehan, but great player.

Had him for a few seasons in the twilight of his career and I can say it was an honor to have Brewer lace 'em up for us. A true professional.
