# This guys is what you mean when you say "professional hitter." Spent the meat of his career playing in the pitchers paradise that was the Montreal ball park. Still finished with 473 HR, and 1,430 RBI--but added 680 career steals, which (calling Randy) may be a record for first basemen. Similar WAR (43.8) numbers to Carlos Gonzales, but played as a 1B/DH. Another very solid player with a very interesting candidacy.

Solid no from me. Very good player. Didn't have have a long career. Was only even above average for 9 seasons. Short career guys need a monster peak, and he didn't have that.

One of the more difficult things for me back when I first came into this crazy place was trying to determine what kinds of career numbers should make the Hall. I'll let you know whenever I come to any firm conclusion. :)
