# DEmpsey was effectively a 1-GM player, playing with Madison for many years before following Chris Wilson to Portland. He was one of the Raider/Mick/Dempsey era that defined the club for that period of time. He's a counting-stat candidate, with the key stat being 2,922 hits--78 shy of 3K, and 892 steals--good for #10 all-time at the time of his retirement.

I think his metrics changed my mind. Didn't realize how well he matched up. May take a couple years but he should probably be in.

He got my vote but I'm not going to fight over it if he doesn't make it. It would be different had I managed to get him to 3,000 hits.

His HOF numbers probably look better than his real ones because his Defense was so bad it killed his overall WAR. As far as hits, doubles, and SBs go though he's probably got a shot.

I will probably vote him in. Though I do wonder if he's a guy that will get overlooked. Feel like the league started going through an offensive boom when he came into the league.

Why are people considering 26 win players, who didn't reach any milestones, who have an OPS below .800, and didn't play good defense. There is literally nothing Hall worthy here from either a old school counting stats viewpoint, or a new school analytics standpoint, or anything.

He's a sub .800 OPS DH (yes, DH. Just because he played in the field when he had no business doing so doesn't make him a real corner outfielder). And we're a talking Hall of Fame. Ridiculous.

Ted made some good points on him last year. Even with decent metrics.

Dempsey made a solid jump to 33% two seasons ago, but seems to have hit a wall. He's in his fifth season of eligibility

Would telling you his 8th in doubles, 10th in stolen bases, and 23rd all-time in hits sway you a little?

haha
