Post 2041 HOF Analysis: SS

Post by usnspecialist » Sat Mar 14, 2020 3:49 am

Listed below are all of the SS in the HOF. I also took any retired guys with WAR over 60 and active guys who were over the 30ish JAWS range (that active list is not a hard and fast limit) as well as anyone presently on the HOF ballot. The list is sorted by JAWS, and the bolded individuals with no position listed are NOT in the HOF presently. Some are on the ballot, some have already passed their time. Green is better than the positional average for that category, red is worse and white is either a tie or 0 (funky excel formatting). Feel free to offer your thoughts below.

Sucks that Mark Wareham is losing steam... a few more peak seasons and he’d have a better shot at he HOF.

He’s such a unique player. A sabermetric dream. Shitty average, high OBP, plus OPS... enough power to compensate. A yearly league leader in walks and strikeouts.

His Eye is the only skill left keeping him as a viable player.

Maybe he’ll hang around long enough accumulate stats for a few more productive seasons.

He was a terror when he was a 7/7/7/11/4 hitter.

i might look into adding a WAR7 column to compare the peaks of these various guys. I bet Wareham does a lot better in that.
