# Rutledge was a steady terror in the middle of Jacksonville's roster for adecade, and a focal part of two championship teams. Tyler basicallypencilled him in for 40 HR and 3-5 WAR, and Rutledge delivered. His case is hurt by the idea that he was rarely at the top of leader boards, (as noted by the black ink of only 1), but often up close asnoted by a gray ink tha gets up close to the magic marks. His peak was also only 5.5 WAR (total WAR of 33.5). Fans in Jacksonville probably don't need much convincing, but the rest of us might be having second thoughts.

I only had him at the tail end of his career, but what I saw wasn’t too impressive. He had a steep, steep drop off that went on too long to be a Hall of Famer.

At his peak, he was an absolute stud and he stuffed the box score. His defense was awful, which always hurt his WAR, but with Jacksonville he was a .300/.370/.560 hitter with 50+ SB speed. His steep dropoff after age 31 means he's basically Neil McKinney, but I'm horribly biased and will vote for him every single year.

Rutledge received 17% of the vote last year. He has six seasons remaining.
