Lloyd Braun had a long and somewhat illustrious career despite not generally being at the very top of anyone’s list as best shortstops in any particular season. His best years were with Jacksonville, where he broke in at the youthful age of 21 (when that was still considered quite youthful, anyway), but he played with seven franchises, contributing at every stop. A great glove and apparently well liked by his teammates. Bottom line, though, the guy just sense to win wherever he went. Perhaps the word “gritty” comes to mind?
At 40.6 career WAR, I’m not sure he’s going to make the cut, but I’m going to enjoy the conversation because he was just that kind of guy.
