# To be honest with folks, while I like Sam Romero as well as the next guy, and I'm understanding he does great charity work...well, I'm not really seeing him in the hall of fame. That said, for four seasons he was probably about as good as anyone around, including 2031 where he won 23 games, led the league in strike outs, and drew a second place finish in the Nebraska voting. If you're voting on peak seasons, that was one for the ages. Alas, that kid of performance didn't last.

Not even close in my opinion. Peak years were far too short and didn’t have the longevity either.

Here is where Sam Romero falls on the list of modern pitchers. I defined modern as anyone who spent the majority of their career after 1995. There was a big shift in pitcher stats around that point so tough to compare some of the older guys.
