Hall of Fame Candidate Thread: Brian Clough
Here's the place to talk about the career of:
Brian Clough
2nd Base
Active Career: 2016-2037 (22 seasons)
3,246 Hits, 123 HR, 1112 RBI, 369 SB, .309/.394/.422, 73.3 WAR
Landis Memorial Winner - 2030, 2032 (MVP)
Puckett Winner - 2024, 2029
10-Time All-Star
Hall of Fame Metrics: (average HoF)
JAWS: 56.5 (57)
Black Ink: 21 (22)
Gray Ink: 140 (109)
HOF Standards: 66 (53)
HOF Monitor: 129 (125)
# "Ol Big Head broke in with Louisville at 22 years old, and never really looked back--finishing his career with a pair of seasons with Stu in Wichita. As a switch hitter with value from either side, Clough was a steady and speedy hitter with career staying power. He was a leader and a fan favorite. One of the more exciting players to watch as a young man. He led the leagues in hits only once, but was top of the table in triples 5 times, for example. His longevity was also well-earned, seeing as he dropped a .419 OBP in 403 PA in his last season (at age 43). His black/gray ink test show the story...Clough was a guy who stayed around the top 10 leader boards for a very long time, and managed to sit at the #1 spot often enough to look like a Hall of Famer. Of course, it's the voters who make that decision.

Yes, but, then, pretty much everything about Louisville in that era had no brain.

Re: Hall of Fame Candidate Thread: Brian Clough
3 guys with 3000 hits get voted in the same year. Has that happened before?

Re: Hall of Fame Candidate Thread: Brian Clough
This is a guy that I will have to vote in. He has 3000+ hits, an excellent triple slash line, and decent glove work. His high leadership and intelligence should not be overlooked either.
