Hall of Fame Candidate Thread: Jeremy Carter

Post by RonCo » Mon Mar 11, 2019 4:56 pm

Here's the place to talk about the career of:

Jeremy Carter

Catcher

Active Career: 2022-2037 (16 seasons)
1,462 Hits, 283 HR, 805 RBI, .239/.301/.418, 26.4 WAR
2-Time All-Star

Hall of Fame Metrics: (average HoF)
JAWS: 23.2 (57)
Black Ink: 0 (22)
Gray Ink: 0 (109)
HOF Standards: 28 (53)
HOF Monitor: 40 (125)
# Carter was a solid player for several seasons, and hung on as a back-up for several more. Hia 26.4 WAR is interesting in that his bat is a little behind Scholes, and his glove is a full step or two off that mark. I think the chances he gets in are low, but I've been wrong before. If Scholes doesn't make it Cater probably won't either. The wild card is probably how the league looks at modern day catchers.

So, have at it. Teach me something good.

Debated not including Carter here, but I figured Scholes' glovework made him a candidate and he was close enough to Scholes to warrant a notice.
