# While there are a few competitor's it's not hard to say that Cisco Arreola was the catcher of his era. Ten Puckett batting awards makes for a pretty good case, anyway--and a Sawyer. Yeah, let's not forget that Sawyer. Arreloa toiled for most of his career in the relative obscurity of several Des Moines rosters, and by the time he made it out of Iowa had seen some diminishment in his skills. Despite that, he was still a solid above average catcher. His black ink is really the only area where the nubers don't quite stack up--but he's a catcher, you know? Put him against those folks and I've got to think that Chris Wilson might be squinting at that top run of the pantheon. Or not. I suppose I can let him talk for himself.

I'm voting him in merely for the fact he retired so I don't have to pay him $8M next season.

the only debate is not whether he is the greatest catcher of his era, but rather he is the greatest of all time.
