Hall of Fame Candidate Thread: Jon Chandler

Post by RonCo » Mon Aug 27, 2018 5:53 pm

Here's the place to talk about the career of: Jon "City" Chandler
Image
Starting Pitcher

Active Career: 2020-2035 (16 seasons)
195-145, 3.70 ERA, 2909 K, 62.8 WAR
Landis Champion: 2030, 2032
Nebraska Award: 2030
5-Time All-Star

Hall of Fame Metrics: (average HoF)
JAWS: 50.5 (72)
Black Ink: 19 (34)
Gray Ink: 119 (162)
HOF Standards: 36 (49)
HOF Monitor: 99 (125)
# City Chandler split the bulk of his career between Buffalo/Havana and Louisville before finishing up in Omaha, Las Vegas, and Brooklyn. Led the league in wins twice, and WAR once. Just missed 200 wins and 3000 Ks, and his standards numbers are down relative to some other candidates, but Chandler was a very good pitcher for a lot of years.

Certainly behind the bumper crop of pitchers this year, might have a chance for me in future ballots.

Had a good 3 year run with Louisville after a good start in Buffalo. But it's a no.

The fact that he pitched for Loserville for awhile there has no bearing on my No.
