Re: Hall of Fame Candidate Tread: Brian Middleton
I love one team guys.
Love all those IPs
Love all those WHIPs close to 1.00
But I think not.
The degradation in second half of career keeps him out.
[edit] - Rethinking this one. The degradation is mostly in wins and losses. Still throwing lots of innings. Still some good WHIPs. Maybe

Not enough counting stats. He would of had a shot if he got to 200 wins (yeah, I know what people think about wins these days, blah, blah, blah..).

Re: Hall of Fame Candidate Tread: Brian Middleton
Middleton was a solid guy for one of those perennial 88 win playoff teams. If he'd been with, say, Vegas during that streak maybe he'd have made his 200 wins, but maybe not. Looking through his teams as he played, he looks like he was a staff ace in his early/mid-20s, but by the time he was into his 30s he was "just" one of the upper range guys. He's got kind of a Fergie Jenkins kind of vibe in that he gave up the longball, but kept guys off the basepath. I love winning with these kinds of guys, but right now I'm a learn toward no.
Any idea if his ballpark influenced things?

As Randy Jackson would say, it's a no from me dawg. Only four seasons with a league/park adjusted ERA more than 25% better than league average, and no big counting stats. Doesn't cut it for me.
