Hall of Fame Candidate Tread: Daniel Labrie, Jr.
Here's the place to talk about the career of: Daniel Labrie, Jr.
Left Field
Active Career: 2016-2031 (15 seasons)
2,427 hits, 257HR, 1,023 RBI, .314/.360/.492, 146 SB, WAR: 47.4
5-Time Zimmer Diamond Glove Winner
5-Time All-Star
Hall of Fame Metrics: (average HoF)
JAWS: 41.5 (50)
Black Ink: 5 (22)
Gray Ink: 79 (105)
HOF Standards: 42 (53)
HOF Monitor: 67 (123)
[hr]
From the moment he broke into the big leagues with Las Vegas at age 22 until the day he turned 28, Daniel Labrie, Jr. collected 30 WAR and looked like he was in a sure-fire path to the Hall of Fame. From that point on, the world looked different, though. A trade to Brooklyn began a series of moves that would see him play for five other franchises--some more than once. Brilliant defender, solid clubhouse guy. Interested to see what folks say about him.

Re: Hall of Fame Candidate Tread: Daniel Labrie, Jr.
It's interesting to see how many guys with career batting averages over .300 we aren't even considering for the Hall. I actually agree, too. A lot of these guys are left handed and we protected them so vigorously with platoons that their averages are "disguised" as higher than they probably should be.

Didn’t help that he was busted for PEDs at the end of his career

Re: Hall of Fame Candidate Tread: Daniel Labrie, Jr.
I admit to not being thrilled with Labrie, Jr. because he didn't really get it done when we picked him up late in his career. That's probably on me, though. And, yes, PEDs...though I'm on the fence on that issue in real life. Bottom line, it seems like I'm with the mainstream thought in that he's just not a thrilling candidate to my eyes.
