# In the current age of ironmen relievers pushing their season-long totals to 175 innings or more, Grady was ahead of his time, the first modern “relief ace.” Grady finished his career with 303 saves and did it by pitching more than 150 innings in a season six times, including a whopping 210 innings (103 appearances!) in 2038, his third Egan-winning season. Aside from appearances, of which he led the league seven times, Grady’s only other sign of dominance was leading the league in saves in 2034 (50), but his contributions spanned beyond saves, as his four Reliever of the Year Awards can testify to. He ushered in a type of player now found common in the league long before it was in style; Peter Grady, pioneer.

Fun fact: among pitchers with less than 10 starts, Grady is 5th all time with 25.7 WAR. (He'll probably be passed by de' Medici next year.)

Shawn Huber is the all-time leader by a mile.

Danny Leach is 20th, but he's just 24 years old.

I'll have to think about this for a while.

Wouldn't mind seeing an article or two in his favor, since I arrived at the tail-end of his Egan run. Cool player, nice to have on your team, but Hall of Famer? Hmmm...I need some compelling arguments.

yeah, i'm not sure he's a HOF'er for me unless I hear some really compelling arguments. I'll use this as my annual reminder that somehow Lionel Sanguinacco is not in the Hall.

I'm voting for him. That run of 190-200 innings seasons in Jacksonville changed the way we play the game. No one else will vote for him anyway, so I may as well.

This. And I think Randy said it on another thread, but the super RP trend we see now kind of started with him. Between changing how the BBA uses guys like him and that he was really really good for 5 seasons and good for another 2 or 3, yes, I think he should be in.

grady is a good test case for the new reliever. He isnt the best (that probably goes to huber), but he was first and he revolutionized how we see the pen.

From 2035-2039 he post 17.81 WAR in relief over 753 innings. He gets my vote.

Peter Grady--the literal leading edge of the modern day long-haul reliever--edged up last season. He's in his 4th ballot.
