Re: EBA minors
I would be reluctant to make many changes too quickly unless the expectation is that the EBA will remain human-run forever. Even then, I think I would wait a season or two. Once we're sure the league will be human-run, I do think that either another level should happen or the draft depth might be ad...

Re: New Applicant: Charlie Cooper
Ron might be a bit more forgiving than me. Having lived through the damage Cooper wrought on the PEBA I would be most uncomfortable being in another league with him I'm doing my best to see Charlie as a teenager with what is essentially a hacker's mentality, who thought cheating the system was just...

Re: Trading with EBA
Most big name free agents don't want to play in the EBA anyway, and won't listen to offers. I don't have any issue with losing players to the MBWBA. I think that's the basic structure. When you're playing in a tiny fish tank, the big fish always get what they want. It's a quaintness associated with ...

Re: New Applicant: Charlie Cooper
As he says, Charlie's the guy who nearly destroyed the PEBA a couple years back, so I have to make a point of that. He's young, though, and I suppose everyone deserves a second chance. And he was very active and quite knowlegdgeable. So there's that. On one hand, he nearly took down one of the mega-...

2024.Madrid.04 - Tarras Blows Chance at Record Season
Aug 11, 2024 Current Record: 79-36, 1st in Western Alliance 11.0 Games up --- Tarras Blows Chance at Record Season The historic chase of closer Ruairi Tarras has come to a disappointing end, as the closer was diagnosed with a herniated disc this week. Tarras, who registered 28 saves with the club la...

And, looks like the EBA could be getting a few more good men, too.

Re: Nine Innings of Inside Baseball: Trades and Rumors of Tr
This is Admin Bonus PP territory! No kidding, eh? Anyway, it really sucks to have lost both Sandcastle and Cavazos at the same exact time. I just don't really have the salary cap room to add anything else. And I think I'd be throwing prospects away on a fruitless endeavor. Maybe. Unless I change my...

Re: Why do people keep giving Dusty Baker money?
Replacement level is replacement level.....except it doesn't really exist for managers and probably never will ... I think I agree with this in general, but if you ask "how many games above replacement level" kinds of questions, one has to assume that replacement level exists in order to answer it ...

Re: Why do people keep giving Dusty Baker money?
How many wins against replacement do you think Joe Maddon (or whoever you think is the best manager in baseball) is worth? I would think that 3 would be max. I think bad, or inexperienced managers cost a team more wins then a good manager can get a team...if that makes sense. Replacement level is r...

Re: Someone tell me...
If you're looking for an oddity, it's that Pedro Burgos is having a massive HR year inside Northwoods Outpost. his .825 home OPS (.518 SGL) is a major value in a place where runs go to die.

Re: Someone tell me...
Every single team listed there with the exception of Madison is, on paper, better than mine. And I hardly would call a bunch of 2 to 1 series wins destroying teams. By "destroying" I mean you're 17-6 against those teams. On the whole you could be expected to have been, maybe 11-12 instead, so that'...

Re: Someone tell me...
One can spend time looking at who a team has played, also. And where. Vancouver has the best home record in the division 27-26 (1 game over .500). Here is where they have fattened up: Valencia: 6-1 (.408 - last in the JP) Buffalo: 2-1 (.475 - 3rd in the FA) Tucson: 2-1 (.520 - 3rd in the FP) Las Veg...

Re: Someone tell me...
Admittedly we beat them like a drum 9 games to 2 but Cali is 6-2 against them and Hawaii is 9-5 against them. Better percentage for us but not wildly so. Those are three game deltas. Your lead over them is 1 and 2 games each. Without the "Valencia Shift" it appears Vancouver could be in third, rath...

Re: Someone tell me...
The other way you can look at it is to compare your team's record against Valencia to the others in your division.
