He had a nice ratings bump after he "retired."

At his age, I would assume he's going to be on a two-month stint no matter what. Almost any clubhouse can manage that. :) I would have kept him if I could have.

Re: Who Wins the Frick Nebraska Award?

I like Laloosh, but I wonder if his ERA will regress to his career averages down the stretch. It's certainly possible. On the other hand, he lost the end of his 24-year-old season and most of his 25-year-old season to injury (and was apparently still affected by it when he completed his 25-year-old...

Re: Who Wins the Frick Nebraska Award?

I picked, someone else. My answer? Whoever has the most wins, or a ton of wins and an insane ERA. You can huff and puff all you want. Go look at our voting history, OOTP online leagues vote based off those two stats more than even the ancient BBWA voters That's true. A lot of it has to do with conv...

That said, if Mike Davis had not spontaneously combusted in July, we would behaving a totally different conversation. Has a Kernel ever won the Nebraska?

Re: Who Wins the Frick Nebraska Award?

LaLoosh and Chandler have been fairly steady all year, with LaLoosh being a little more stable overall. LaLoosh has just been very good all year. Kind of the definition of a stopper.

Re: Who Wins the Frick Nebraska Award?

Gracia or Quintana for me. I like LaLoosh but his FIP is kinda high in comparison. Quintana and Gracia are both interesting because at this snapshot, their numbers are riding a pair of amazingly hot numbers put up over the last five weeks (July and early August). Same for Correa. All three of these...

Re: Who Wins the Frick Nebraska Award?

Gracia has been splendid. If he keeps it up, and Cali makes a real run, he may well walk away with it. Diaz and Lopez had some similarities this year. Lopez snapped out of it, too. I actually voted Lopez as one of my three because while he sucked in April and fell off the radar screen (a 5.7 ERA wil...

Re: Who Wins the Frick Nebraska Award?

I'm also intrigued by the possibility of someone like Ricardo Diaz (9-6, 4.01 ERA, 3.68 FIP) coming through with a torrid last two months and making a splash. Diaz is no stranger to the Nebraska.

Re: Who Wins the Frick Nebraska Award?

Just because it's fun, here are a few other interesting nuances of note: - Vancouver has played seven more home games than road games to date. How much does that affect Correa's chances? - Louisville's played 9 more road games than home games, what advantage does that give Chandler and Quintana? - T...

Re: Who Wins the Frick Nebraska Award?

I think the most interesting part of this question is guessing what the last 10-12 starts will do for them, and how much to weigh guys on winning teams vs. the others.

Who Wins the Frick Nebraska Award?

Sixty games from the end of the season, and an interesting collection of pitchers are vying for the Frick League Nebraska Award. Vancouver's Antonio Correa may be the front runner. His ERA is blazing and he's winning games. But he plays in a pitcher's haven, and his FIP isn't at the top of the chart...

Probably a good move for both, but it certainly helps Indy get their finances in order.

Yes, on the whole I agree. But there is also a law of diminishing returns. It's going to be interesting to see what happens.
