Re: BALLPARK FACTORS of the UMEBA - 2042

Love the idea of the two leagues being so different...makes trades, free agent preferences and, most importantly, the United Cup match-ups all that more interesting. I've kinda used this year as a spring training, but I'm curious to see what my first UMEBA free agency will bring. I have enough hole...

Re: Squinting at Numbers: Bunt for Hit

Ron, this is a hell of a writeup and a study. I loved reading it even though I have no horse in the game. However, I do love Bunty immediately. With a name like that, he won't be easy to miss in the future. I hope I can keep track of him in the minors and see if he can keep doing as well as he curre...

Re: UMEBA Facts.

Patrick Lue, who has since retired, was named the first ever Bancroft Player of the Year in 2038. He had a great season with Jerusalem, smacking 50 homers and a .318 average.

Re: BALLPARK FACTORS of the UMEBA - 2042

And here I thought that either all UMEBA parks were neutral or park factors were turned off. I learn something new with OOTP and/or BBA pretty much every day!

Huh? Burt League is better! How do you get Athens is the better team by that? I'm confused!

Hardy since the AS as played in 8 games, he as 13 hits, 5 walks and 3 stolen bases, he reached base safely in 7 of those games. His strike outs are actually down to an average of 1 per game in his last 8, yet he struck out 3 times against those scrubs in the BURT like he was playing in the bush lea...

I always keep all my five minor league levels full or at least 29/30 so I rarely have any room to drop a 25-yr-old down the levels
I think that might be a key difference between UMEBA franchises and BBA ones. I have 35 spots in my Single-A squad, so that is a slight luxury.

I love this, as a novice to the BBA universe. And I love the Brewster Hall of Fame logo. It looks similar to another Hall of Fame logo? :)

66 years old is the oldest player! Is there a veterans committee type thing for the BBA Hall of Fame?

Re: Do you ever park a young player in the low minors as opposed to releasing him?

I tried reading about DFA again and it made more sense this time. I had no idea you could just put a guy in DFA as many times as you want for about seven days each time.

Now I'm trying to make sense about openers and followers and that's making my head spin.

Re: Midseason Reflections (Cairo Chronicles: Issue 6, 2042 Season)

I use Gyazo to take shots of all the end of season stats / tables etc which helps me to compare performance year on year. Also good to snip tables, box scores etc to illustrate TN's. For faster TN's too I have word files of the url's of all my players and of the team logos so I can just copy & past...

Re: Do you ever park a young player in the low minors as opposed to releasing him?

I think that's probably where my lack of understanding of OOTP and regular baseball rules fails me. I should look into exactly what DFA is. I am pretty sure I previously tried, but couldn't really make sense of it.

Re: Do you ever park a young player in the low minors as opposed to releasing him?

Yes, Rookie Ball or International Complex. There could well be some differences in BBA/UMEBA environments , but in the BBA I would put any 21 YO in A ball and any 19 YO in SA-ball over a 25 YO who couldn't cut in in AA or AAA unless I just didn't have anyone quite ready. I mean, on rare occasions I...

Re: Do you ever park a young player in the low minors as opposed to releasing him?

I always keep my minors full. Usually I have 50 or 60 guys sign minor league extensions every season. Yup, my minors are full too. But I have 35 spots in my Single-A squad, and have open spots there. At Triple-A and Double-A I only have 30 roster spots, so that allows me a bit more leeway with Sing...

Re: Do you ever park a young player in the low minors as opposed to releasing him?

..including taking guys out of the IC to play filler roles in R ball if needed. As far as I can tell, there is no value in having a 25 year old in A-ball or SA when I can put a 19-21 year-old there instead. I probably could have written it more clearly. What I was trying to explain was that I don't...

Do you ever park a young player in the low minors as opposed to releasing him?

Say you have a 25 year old who just isn't cutting it in Double or Triple-A. But he did decently just a year or two ago. Still, when you look at his ratings, they really aren't very good and you don't see a future for him. Instead of releasing him to allow another team to take a chance on him, do you...

Re: Nostalgic Look

I know for many (if not all) of the pro basketball simulation leagues I've looked at don't require all owners to actually own the game. I'm just assuming, but this must put strain on the commissioner. Something tells me this is because there are a bunch of young kids joining the league. I know it is...

Re: Nostalgic Look

Am I looking at online leagues in a nostalgic way? I started playing OOTP some 16 years ago, to me when I started you could close your eyes spin round throw a dart and odds are you'd hit a good league. Now you could fire a shot gun and be lucky if you hit more than a couple of leagues, see I've alw...

Re: UMEBA Facts.

I'd actually love it if you were required to post stuff NOT about your team at all, but about any other UMEBA team. I'd rather do that. :) I was shocked that catcher Hedde Veenman got 22 votes for the All-Star game and Istanbul's Anibal Garcia only got one solitary vote. And I was further shocked th...
