Re: YS Buys PT Time - Spends 70

Dumb question. What does "track and lock" mean?

Very cool. Love the logo, though I suspect our more cynical fans will stoop to calling the club the Sugar Daddies instead. :)

YS Buys PT Time - Spends 70

Let's see if I have this down pat...

Yellow Springs Spends 70 points on a personal trainer to ...

Please, please increase Ángel 'Dynamite' De Castillo's Work Ethic

If he doesn't develop, it's not going to be because I left him to rot there in our International Complex.

Re: 2024-25, EBA Rights Draft (Rule 6)

The Rule 7 draft are guys no one wants. Fair enough. A few disclaimers? 1) When you're on the bottom of the pile, a decent backup can add value. 2) I'm assuming the Rule 7 draft works differently, in that players so acquired can be placed anywhere in the team's organization (i.e. they don't have to...

Re: 2024-25, EBA Rights Draft (Rule 6)

Don't you then have an "unfair advantage" in the EBA when someone has a former player that gets poached? I don't understand. An EBA team is going to get a player either way, the only question is from which team. I don't think the prospect of losing an unprotected Rule 5 guy is a deterrent for a poa...

YS 25.01 - Front Office Preps for Savage Onslaught

Nov 5, 2024 After the build comes the crash. After the euphoria of claiming topping rights to budding EBA star Alfredo Salazar, the front office of the Yellow Springs Nine woke to the realization that they were suddenly in the metaphorical gunsights of several bottom-dwelling nobodies with deep budg...

Re: 2024-25, EBA Rights Draft (Rule 6)

Oh, and I would say every player alive would prefer a frontloaded deal to a backloaded one. So there's that too. I think this is true of the smartest ones, at least. :) Again, I have no major issues with big front-loading--it is "gaming the cap system" but that's normal business. You play within th...

Re: 2024-25, EBA Rights Draft (Rule 6)

Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin, especially the latter. Lin's was backloaded, but it was backloaded such that it would have cost the Knicks an enormous amount of luxury tax and hamstrung their franchise. Those deals are created by the accounting practices of the NBA, though. The offering team can account ...

Re: 2024-25, EBA Rights Draft (Rule 6)

I'm having De ja vu, lol. Front-loaded is better (and more realistic) than backloaded. That said, if someone had offered a contract like Baca's (52M year 1 to 21M year 2 is almost a 250% drop, lol) to one of his own home grown players I might've raised an eyebrow, but that's just the nature of the ...

YS 24.49 - YS9 Drafts San Salvadoran Savage in Rule 6

After hearing the results of the MBWBA's annual Rule 6 draft, Nine fans are suddenly salivating at the idea of an outfield that pairs 22-year-old superstar Luis Bacca with 23-year-old slugger Alfredo "Savage" Salazar . The team made Salazar, who has been a star for the Brussels organization, the fir...

I suppose I can always just let the other guy pay $50M for Savage if need be. ;)
