Yes, your awesome CF. SS CAN make up for adjoining defensive deficiencies!
I have been doing a lot of analysis using simulation mode in OOTP 22 beta. The way I have been doing it is by creating a random "2021-MLB-quality" league, Then I ran a bunch of 100,000 game simulations between each pair of teams. After doing that, I hollow out the "middle" team replacing each player...

Re: What affects batting results? The third report from 2045 BBA Season Stats
So I ran stepwise regressions for the various measures: ebh=b2+b3 bip=ab-hr-so+sf b3_ratio=b3/ebh ebh_1B=ebh/b1 ebh_ab=ebh/ab ebh_bip=ebh/bip ebh_bip_no1B=ebh/(bip-b1) ebh_hits_nohr=ebh/(h-hr) ebh_no_other=ebh/(ab-hr-b1) ebh_nonHR=ebh/(h-hr) Here are the results using only players with more than 25 ...

Re: What affects batting results? The third report from 2045 BBA Season Stats
Yes, I saw that earlier. I would guess the issue is the use of EBH/AB rather than EBH/1B. I'd guess that EBH/AB would eventually find a connection if the data set was quite large, but I could of course be wrong. Much like the real life phrase that "you can't steal first base" means something, I'd n...

Re: What affects batting results? The third report from 2045 BBA Season Stats
Referencing the comments about Speed from shoeless and Ronco, I don't know if you noticed, but if you scroll to the right, SPE was checked but did not enter into any of the predictions, including ebh/ab. Of course, it might be the case that it does affect it but the effect is small enough that it di...

Re: What affects batting results? The third report from 2045 BBA Season Stats
One thing I just noticed looking at this is that across the three measures that include batadv, that batadv is worth about 1/3 of a point in the primary stat: i.e. a batter with an EYE of exactly 6 will be equivalent to about 6.166 with a batting advantage, and 5.833 without.

What affects batting results? The third report from 2045 BBA Season Stats
Well, on Monday I reported on pitcher effectiveness in BBA . Today I will report on batting. My plan is for the next posting to be on defense, then one on running and stealing (based on BsR), and finally one on WAR, which will tie everything together. There might be other reports coming from the dat...

Two 80 OVR RPs available for prospects or other
Both of these players are in their final year, and they both are interested in resigning for $7 to $8 million a year, but I am "arb-restricted", just don't have the money to extend either of them: Gilberto Sosa Mitchell Purssell and I have two OVR 55 relievers in AAA that I could move up if I move t...

Re: OOTP Tips and Tricks
There is another way to do it, which I do. I do export to a spreadsheet outside the game, then add a column indicating "pick". As players are drafted, I put the draft position in this spot, and periodically filter to only show pick = " " By using a spreadsheet, I can also add custom notes or ratings...

Re: What affects pitching effectiveness? The second report from 2045 BBA Season Stats
How about a list of takeaways. Many of these takeaways are "tentative", that can be more iron-clad once I have more seasons worth of data to analyze: 1. Most or all of a pitcher's effectiveness can be determined by the three primary ratings, STU, MOV, CON. Other ratings, including number of pitches ...

Re: UMEBA - 10 Season and Counting
I think it is amusing that Best IS Best. Cool to see so many Bucharest players on the list: Jay Gamble, Rakim Stevenson, Anastasio Diaz, Mateus Rabisca (past), William Parker (past) , Mitch Dalrymple, and Ricardo Esparza. Only disappointed that Owen Geddes is not yet on the list... but he will be......

What affects pitching effectiveness? The second report from 2045 BBA Season Stats
Ok, just over a week ago I posted Initial analyses from 2045 BBA Season Statistics describing how I saved all the different splits for the season stats in BBA and UMEBA last season, and some initial "statistics" on the results. So the first thing I did was to do an analysis of how important the vari...

Re: Analysis of the First Round of the 2046 BBA Amateur Draft
I think I blew my first draft pick as a BBA GM. I had been waiting, for a number of picks, with fingers crossed, to immediately pick Whitehead, but Calgary picked him right before me. I thought quickly between MacIntyre and Pollitt, but didn't think clearly, picking the better "potential" in Pollitt...

Re: 2046, BBA Draft Chatter
Oh, so the rich get richer. I had had my eye on a player for more than a dozen picks in the second round: CF Jared Boll. Then, just a few picks before mine, New Orleans picked him up. Oh, New Orleans, you are so strong in your minors already, did you have to go and do this to get even stronger? I te...

Sox Scoops 46:005 Rocky Wattson wins April Batter of the Month!
Well, second basemen are not normally known for being the best offensive producer on a team, much less an entire league. But that's just what Rocky Wattson did during April, taking down the Frick league "Batter of the Month" trophy. When we reached him, he was standing on a stepladder putting the tr...

Re: GM Change, Bucharest Impalers
Hey, Keith... I fully expect that you will be in playoff position as the season moves forward. Your team is too good not to be. I was the last GM for Bucharest, let me know if you have questions, and I would love to sit down with you and go over the team and possibilities if you like.

Johnson league Minor League Organizations Ranking
Ok, yesterday I analyzed the Frick league Minor League Organizations Ranking , now I have done the same for the Johnson league. Please see that post for information about how these ratings are derived. Here is the result for the Atlantic League: | | 75+ | 70 | 65 | 60 | 55 | 50 | 45 | 40 | '<40 | 75...
