Re: Rebrand Rumour
This is a very good idea; Valencia has needed a new stadium for years. I think what's needed is stability, that brings into play stadium, free agency, drafts etc. I think I'm right in saying I'm the 5th GM of the Stars, by season's end I think I'll be 2nd on the list in games in charge. And so many...

Twin Cities is entirely too not last place. I may need to do something about that.

Re: 2045 Sacramento Clay-for-Sheep Extravaganza!
Shoeless, you have moved up in my rankings of "people I might not kill if I got to decide who lives" simply for having a border collie named Spartacus. I'm sorry for your loss. We have a mostly border collie mutt named Atticus. I think they would have been great friends ... or they would have relent...

Re: The BBA Today #77 - Prop bets, Potatoes, and Injuries, Oh Mei!
And, to show our ages, I was on Belanger, but would not have called Ripken. :) The only one I remembered was Joe Tinker, so ever's the chance you might have gotten at least one. We should all detour from my whining about how I think the HOF should be and go look at Cal Ripken Jr.'s career. I feel l...

Re: The BBA Today #77 - Prop bets, Potatoes, and Injuries, Oh Mei!
Robinson was the third best defensive WAR player of all time and just one of five players . He's a unicorn. And I bet without checking you (especially Ted) could give me #1 on that list too, who only had 44 WAR with the bat and is for sure a flippin' Hall of Famer. Pun intended. That said, you'd ge...

Re: The BBA Today #77 - Prop bets, Potatoes, and Injuries, Oh Mei!
We appear to have decided Brooks Robinson doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame. Reported It's interesting that there are two takes similar to this and the player that was most similar to him, if I remember correctly topped out in the mid 30% range for voting. It is important that Brooks Robinson play...

Re: Ranking the Pennant Winners
I remember screaming at hitters to stop swinging at Kevin Brown's splitter during the '98 playoffs. To this day, I have never watched a guy just go back to the same pitch over and over like that and have hitters just be completely fooled and swing over it again and again. It was maddening. I don't k...

Re: The BBA Today #77 - Prop bets, Potatoes, and Injuries, Oh Mei!
I think the thing about Moreno is that his batting numbers really just don't impress. They are good, but not typical of a HOFer, unless you know how hard it was to hit when he played. Then they seem a little better. By the time he was on the ballot, we had a lot of GMs who simply weren't here when h...

Re: A Deep Dive Into Roberto Viramontas and BABIP
Just got around to reading this, and while I agree there's no definitive evidence that his babip has dropped, there also isn't any that it hasn't. If there's a 13.7% chance he just sucked at babip in 2043, then it's not that much less likely his babip declined before 2043, and 2044 is the 13.7% chan...
