Re: Analysis of the First Round of the 2058 BBA Amateur Draft

You wrote some pessimistic reviews of my picks a few years ago that look spot on in retrospect so I’m glad you’re ok with the Marriott pick. I'd go so far as to say I think that Marriott is a can't miss pick. Literally based on where he is in 2058, I think he's a primo reliever conversion if he suc...

Re: Analysis of the First Round of the 2058 BBA Amateur Draft

To be clear, when I refer to the 20-80 ratings, I don't mean just the one overall rating we get here. In my other league, which I was in for 5 seasons before joining here, we use 20-80 for the individual skills as well, like a kid in the draft might have a 30-30-20 for stuff-movement-control with a...

Re: Analysis of the First Round of the 2058 BBA Amateur Draft

It was good to track how pitching went and compare picks with both my original take and your analysis. Without the 20-80 skills ratings, for some reason, I struggle with getting a read on pitching prospects. That said, I was pretty much in agreement with the first 6 or 7 pitchers taken. Your though...

Analysis of the First Round of the 2058 BBA Amateur Draft

Already dragged Renders out of the IC. I'm thinking that's where prospects go to die.

Blowing in the Wind 2058.2: Jacksonville Trades Bernie Stuart

What's remarkable about Jacksonville's Bernie Stuart deal is not that it happened, or even how it happened: a huge sum of cash, prospects, and some future considerations. The Hurricanes, not in incredible financial shape to begin with, were heavily in the red after signing very expensive IFA Klaas R...

Blowing in the Wind 2058.1: Jacksonville Goes Upper Klaas, Signs International Free Agent Renders

When Aaron Weiner took over the GM role on the Jacksonville Hurricanes before the 2054 season, the team had been in a three-year playoff drought, had a whole team full of free agent contracts, and no farm. Four years later, Jacksonville has made the playoffs three times, drafted a top-60 prospect in...

Blowing in the Wind 2058.3: Jacksonville's Direction in 2058

The Bernie Stuart deal creates a pin in the Jacksonville 2058 season. The Hurricanes still have starters Bob Anderson, Juan Marroquin, and Gavrilovich Mastinsky, which would be enough pitching for anyone, but their spending this offseason was basically two players: Klaas Renders and 1B Mun-wah Hsu, ...

Re: Jacksonville and Twin Cities

Jacksonville confirms. Please put Jensen into Stuart's rotation spot, 50-pitch limit. Poole and Huertas can both go to RL.

Best of luck to Twin Cities in that title hunt.

Jacksonville Hurricanes Trade Block

SP Juan Marroquin : Yes, he's a rental, yes, he's a head case, but he also has over 6 WAR over the past two seasons and he's cheap at $7.5 million. RF Donald Miller : Rental outfield starter who draws more walks than your guy (and every guy). Easy to retain half his salary. SP Gavrilovich Mastinsky ...

Re: Jose Barron gives the double whammy by joining Ly in opting out.(57.03)

Considering he has 8 WAR the last two years and makes seven, not eight figures, that's a no-brainer for him. I have the same (smaller) problem impending with Marroquin, though I hope that Stuart opts in or at least re-signs.
