I definitely don't have a ton of experience with 16, but in previous versions (like, waaaaay back in OOTP12) that I had experience with, it was the infield ratings (error, range, etc) that seemed to have more of an effect on things like ZR and Errors, while catcher ability was pretty limited to pass...
