56.13- Digging In The Minors- Albany

Albany is, in a way, the inverse of my Bogota team. While Bogota is enjoying a nice little season after years of neglect, Albany has far fewer prospects than they normally have. In fact, there's basically only one guy worth mentioning. But he's a doozy, and as far as the other guys- well, I'll menti...

Barrera just imploded after a decent April. He may bounce back.
Yeah… sample size on closer is so small that just a couple of bad outings can really ugly up a stat line.

Re: Brooklyn State of Mind: Miranda Has Impressive Debut (2056.1)

I like to see guys who weren’t top draft picks turn out to be contributors. In MLB, and in the BBA.

56.12- Digging In The Minors #4

I don’t know about you, but my short-season A team has always been kind of an afterthought. If I draft a guy, and he has a good season in rookie ball, he goes to full-season A the next year. This leaves the SA team to be populated with older draftees, guys who have aged out of rookie ball, and whate...

Re: 2056, Sim #13 Chatt

Well, geez… 1. We had a 4-2 sim. 2. My first-round pick is crushing it in rookie ball (6-0, 1.07 ERA). 3. The game just dropped a guy with 45 potential into my international complex. 4. One of my minor leaguers had his potential upgraded from 40 to 70 (!). That’s about as good a sim as a crappy team...

56.11-Casinotes- Midseason Musings

Let’s take a look at the current state of the Gamblers as they limp toward the middle point of the season… -Second baseman and leadoff hitter Yodo Sato is limping around on crutches after fracturing his tibia. In his absence, Rule 5 pick Sam Kelley will get his chance to prove that his current .324 ...

56.10- Casinotes-Draft Recap, or whatever...

“Recap” is a funny word when you think about it. It sounds like you’ve “capped” something, and now you’re doing it again. It’s kind of like, people call laid-back folks “nonchalant”, but no one calls an intense person “chalant”. Oh well, I seem to have strayed off topic a bit; let’s take a look at t...

Rule 5 return

ATC has acquired rule 5 pick Glen Branham from Rocky Mountain. ATC will then return him to Charlotte, the team from which he was taken, and make a trade with Charlotte to acquire his rights in order to be able to send him to the minors.

The trade is posted.

56.9- Casinotes- Draft Day Ding

I drafted Resurrection Santos III and Gary Goodchild. Now, admittedly, I had the first pick in those drafts, and Helen Keller could have told you that those were the best prospects available, but still… I drafted them, and it’s made it easier for me to consider myself a knowledgeable drafter. So whe...

Re: 2056, BBA Ammy Draft Chatter

Feels like the top HS pitchers are very high risk, high reward. Will be interesting to see how they do in the years to come. And see how many go early in round one. Obviously, I went for a steadier, albeit less potentially amazing, arm. The young guys are hit and miss. probably to me detriment, but...

56.8-Digging IN The Minors #3

A triple-A roster is traditionally divided into two groups: actual prospects and guys you keep around in case of injury or catastrophic performance on the major league roster. Wilmington is in a bit of a different situation; the big league team is so bad that almost anyone on the AAA squad could jum...

Re: Worst Trade you've ever made?

I have pretty much made Sacramento’s pitching staff what they are all by myself by trading them Flores, King and Vidaca. The Flores and King trades were bad trades made just because I needed a cash infusion, but the Vidaca trade was made just because Ron caught me in one of my occasional. “What the ...

Re: How many BBA/GBC cities have you been to?

When I was a kid, we drove through Yellow Springs occasionally on the way to visit relatives. I remember they had a little movie theater there that was always showing some movie I had never heard of to appeal to the artsy-farts Antioch College crowd.
