Sticking Points 2061.4: Rockville Fans Celebrate the Departure of GM, While GM Says, "Au Revoir!"
Rockville Pikemen fans were generally ecstatic over the news that GM Jim Slade was giving up his front office position to focus on his other job, leading an overworked, shorthanded team of awesome colleagues who need his full attention and hands-on support until his company acknowledges the risk of ...

Re: GM Change, Rockville Pikemen
I'll say farewell to my organization and you guys later tonight, when I put a job to bed. I'm psyched that a legend, in my opinion, is back and taking over Rockville. Thanks to all of you for being amazing. It's some world we, if I may still consider myself a member of it, have cooking.

Re: 2061 What Is Your General Minor League Promotion Plan?
There is a great degree of "it depends" mixed in with my typical patience for letting prospects develop 1 level per year: - Developed, older prospect for his level is performing well above his peers - Need for an RP at next level up (eg, injury) and opportunity to give a younger SP a chance to get h...

Sticking Points 2061.3: GM Hits the Analyst's Couch
"It's been rough, Doc." Rockville Pikeman GM Jim Slade shifts on his analyst's couch. "It's more than the losing." "Tell me about it," says Dr Stuart, letting out an unexpected sigh. Slade wonders whether it's a sign of empathy or exasperation. "It's all the ways things fall apart," Slade explains, ...

Fida bin Kaseem to Rehab
If it's not a hassle, could you place Fida bin Kaseem on a rehab assignment when he comes off the IL 6 days into this sim? If it's any hassle and I can find him and place him from my DFA after the sim, that works for me. Thus is one of those weird things I sometimes worry about. Thanks.

Re: Sticking Points 2061.2: Joe Hall to the Rescue
Hall is going to ride his recency bias for as long as it takes him. Eventually, I hope to land or develop a quality SS and have the luxury of making him a utility guy who I can shuffle between AAA and Rockville.

Sticking Points 2061.2: Joe Hall to the Rescue
Shortstop play, like so many other areas of play, has left something to be desired in Rockville. The last couple of seasons, despite Roberto Lopez ' occasional flashes of shocking 2059 decency, had to be addressed. Lopez, a 2055 5th-round pick, showed some range coming through the Pikeman system, de...

Re: How Long Have You Played OOTP?
I assume you're asking for real-life years. A friend got me into his league in January 2020. A couple of months later, when we were all holed up and keeping socially distant, it was the best decision I'd made in years. Those times and learning the game took me back to being 11 years old, my parents ...

Re: OPEN CALL - 2061 MEDIA GUIDE MATERIAL!
For the record, I'll put myself down for definitely the "Afsamoc" division in the GBC. (this was much easier when they were called Burt and Bancroft) Then if I have time, I might do the rest of the GBC. I'll have to let you know. I can get started on the other half. Let me know if there's a particu...

Sticking Points 2061.1: Pikemen Introduce GM Gopher, I Mean, Assistant GM Matt Edwards
Hope springs, well, not quite eternal, but that trickle running down the sidewalk could be a modest degree of hope and not a water main break, right? Spring training is about to kick off following a particularly slow offseason for the Rockville Pikemen, who threaten to run it doggy paddle it back wi...

I'll take the second half of the GBC, whichever half that is, if it hasn't been claimed yet. I'm sorry I didn't pipe up and offer to do all of the GBC again earlier. Work has been stressful. Thanks.

Re: Fix the International Free Agency
I'm in another league where IFAs are randomly assigned to teams throughout the course of a season. Most of them are going nowhere; occasionally a future trade chip or even a cornerstone player shows up in your system. This takes away the "fun" of bidding on a possibly overrated 16 year old, but it a...

Re: 2061 - A Good Shortstop is Hard to Find
Richard Vernon only played about 45 games at SS for me. He mainly plays 2B. His WAR would have been better if I could keep him there. The prospects are bleak for finding a decent SS this offseason. I may promote a kid way ahead of schedule who can at least field the position, even if he hits .150.

I love these kinds of stories! All the stuff we think we want out of life, in our most stressed-out times, and then there's something like this to bring it home.
