So, I am travelling the world but leaving Brewster!

So, I retired from work starting November 1, and have given away and sold almost everything I have in order to "take a long, slow trip around the world". The idea is to move somewhere for a few months (in shared furnished living arrangements), learn the area and the culture, and then move on to the ...

48:006 Chicago has good season until the end

Well, going into September it looked like Chicago could actually win the Heartland. Alas, September was not the month we needed: we went 11-15, including losing 8 of ten at one stretch. And then October continued the stretch as we were swept 3-0 in the wild card series. In the offseason, we have som...

Re: The YS9 WAY: Minor Leagues

This is very valuable, thanks for sharing! So I have some questions, I have some issues with the above... I might not be doing things right. So all my minors have players that fit at or below the maximum age they are supposed to (22 for R, 23 for S-A, 24 for A, 25 for AA) but not within the more res...

Re: Are you f'ing kidding me?!?!

You're wrong on the rules there. The umpire judged it was a swing. So even if it hit him, the swing overrides the hit by pitch. So it's a strike and not a HBP. The catcher doesn't have to catch it/throw him out because it's still a dead ball due to it hitting the batter. Yeah, that is consistent wi...

Re: Are you f'ing kidding me?!?!

So what gets me about it is that whatever happened, the umpire ruled incorrectly. It either hit his bat or hit him, the ball was obviously deflected, and subsequently the catcher did not catch it. If it was a hits batsman, he should have taken first base. If it hit the bat it is a foul ball. I canno...

Black Sox spends 70 (actually 60) points

The Black Sox would lke to spend the following particiaption points:

40 points to improve Team Trainer Joe Holden "Prevent arm injuries" rating by 40 points
20 points for $2 million in bonus cash.
10 points to improve Manager Velasco's "Influence Mechanics" rating by 10 points

Thanks!

48:005 The powers-that-be think Chicago will be force to reckon with

So the preseason predictions are out and they have Chicago picked to win 101 games this season, finishing second to Omaha in the Heartland division. We caught up with the new manager, Antonio Velasco, to get his take on the situation. "Well, I remain skeptical that we can actually deliver that many ...

Re: 2047 SBA/Inning (mid-season update)

Another thing to note is understanding what steal percentage your team "should" be shooting for. I also did an analysis awhile ago (during OOTP 22 Beta) using the simulation module about what steal rate produces more runs than it costs. My result, in a neutral MLB environment, was 70.5% --- if the t...

Re: 2047 SBA/Inning (mid-season update)

This is very, very interesting, and prompted me to look at my individual slider settings to see why my steal percentage as a team is so low. Based on players on my current roster, I have 84 SB against 42 CS --- so exactly 2/3, which is pretty bad. When I looked at the individual slider settings, I s...
