While the offense continues to produce at a consistent pace, the wheels are falling off the pitching staff. The Team ERA surged to 4.83 after taking beatings from Madison and Louisville last week. However, the starting three are hanging in there, barely, though each of them has their own flaw. The River Monsters may be looking to AAA to find someone willing to take the 4th or 5th spots which have been totally horrendous through 4 weeks.

Sophmore 2B Xue-Qin Man is ready to return after being out for a month due to an Ab strain. Gustavo Gonzalez has played great in his absence and Manager Jared Brown will have the great problem of finding a place to squeeze him in somewhere in the lineup.

Veteran RF Juan Cruz emerged from a 2 year hibernation to wake up for a week, going for 8 for 17 (.471) with 3 HRs and 7 RBIs. Fans are wondering how long Cruz is going to feed before he goes back to sleep for a couple of years. Yes, you can say skepticism is high.

For a team struggling to keep the ball in the yard and runners from crossing the plate, the Twin Cities pitching staff will get to see two of the top power hitters and offenses in the BBA this week.

ImageJose Estrada (Omaha) .394(3rd) / 15 HRs(1st) / 38 RBIs(1st)
Jose Estrada commands the league best offense this season, Omaha is leading several offensive categories (Runs, BA, OBP, SB) and is 2nd in HR’s. (And nose hair)

ImageAlfredo Salazar (Charm City) .330 / 12 HRs (2nd) / 27 RBIs (4th)
Alfredo cooled a bit in the last week from previous weeks high of .365 AVG. The Jimmies are leading the league in home runs and is second only to Omaha in runs scored.

For a River Monster team that’s struggling in giving up HRs and runs in general, it’s looking to be a tough week for the pitching staff. Low scoring games for the River Monsters (either team) have been few and far between lately. It'll be a great test to see of the Twin Cities pitcher can pull it together and manage to keep a few games under four runs this week. Let's say, the odds aren't good.

Estrada is somewhere beyond reason and beyond a superstar.
