Two Officially Become Free Agents

The Atlantic City Gamblers announced that two players have officially become free agents following the arbitration period – 3B Chuck Pate and RF Adam Parrish.

Pate, 31, signed a minor league contract with the Gamblers on 4/10/2032 with a $1 million major league option for the 2032 season, which the Gamblers exercised. After struggling to get production out of the third base position, Pate was promoted and finished the 2032 season for the Gamblers hitting .151/.272/.245 with 13 runs scored, 1 double, 3 home runs, 9 RBIs, 0 stolen bases in 1 attempt (0% success rate), and a -0.4 WAR in 106 at-bats. He recorded 5 errors (.943 fielding percentage), and a +0.8 zone rating in 284 innings at third base. Pate was designated for assignment based on performance and accepted an assignment with Class-AAA Brooklyn, where he finished the season hitting .259/.369/.405 with 16 runs scored, 8 doubles, 5 home runs, 19 RBIs, and a 1.0 WAR in 158 at-bats. He recorded 2 errors (.962 fielding percentage) and a +1.5 zone rating in 169 innings at third base. For his BBA career, Pate has hit .198/.302/.326 with 76 runs scored, 27 doubles, 2 triples, 18 home runs, 72 RBIs, 1 stolen base in 4 attempts (25% success rate), and a 1.2 WAR in 662 at-bats.

Parrish, 26, was initially acquired by the Gamblers in a trade with the Madison Wolves that also brought C Enrique Núñez to Atlantic City and sent right-handed starting pitcher Peter Bryant and left-handed starting pitcher/relief pitcher Juan Pagan. Parrish was named the #43 BBA prospect in 2024, the #67 BBA prospect in 2025, the #52 prospect in 2026, and the #74 prospect in 2028, and got his big break for the Gamblers in 2028, where he finished the season hitting .286/.342/.435 with 76 runs scored, 42 doubles, 1 triple, 14 home runs, 77 RBIs, and a 1.0 WAR in 577 at-bats. However, his success was short-lived, as he would post a negative WAR in each of the next three seasons with the Gamblers, resulting in his abrupt release in 6/30/2031 after hitting .158/.238/.237 with 4 runs scored, 1 double, 1 triple, 5 RBIs, and a -0.2 WAR in 38 at-bats. Despite the release, Parrish and the Gamblers agreed to terms on a minor league contract on 7/9/2031, finishing his season with Class-AAA Brooklyn hitting .299/.384/.397 with 26 runs scored, 15 doubles, 2 home runs, 27 RBIs, 1 stolen base in 1 attempt (100% success rate), and a 1.4 WAR in 214 at-bats; Parrish also recorded 1 error (.993 fielding percentage) and a +3.3 zone rating in right field for Brooklyn. He improved on his 2031 campaign with Class-AAA Brooklyn in 2032, finishing the season hitting .296/.377/.424 with 68 runs scored, 35 doubles, 1 triple, 10 home runs, 63 RBIs, 1 stolen base in 2 attempts (50% success rate), and a 3.6 WAR in 524 at-bats; he also recorded 3 errors (.985 fielding percentage) and a +4.7 zone rating in right field for Brooklyn. Despite the solid season for Class-AAA Brooklyn, the Gamblers opted not to promote him to the major league roster, opting to let him test free agency. For his BBA career, Parrish has hit .264/.317/.383 with 115 runs scored, 65 doubles, 4 triples, 19 home runs, 125 RBIs, and a 0.2 WAR in 1,089 at-bats.
