Batter of the Sim:
Image
Jorge Sierra
.550 avg in 20 AB's with 0 homeruns and 3 RBI. Sierra has been pretty solid as the lefty swinging half of the first base platoon. When you consider how awful lefty swingers do in the park in general, its hard to complain about how good Sierra has been since coming over from Carolina.

Starting Pitcher of the Sim:
Image
Corbin Torres
1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in 7.0 IP with 4 K's to go against 1 walk. Torres had a pretty good debut in the rotation. Could turn out to be an exciting rookie.

Relief Pitcher of the Sim:

Fred Poe
0-0 and 0 saves with a 0.00 ERA in 5.2 IP over 2 games with 3 K's to go against 2 walks. Poe has been pretty good so far in his rookie season. Should eat a lot of quality innings.

Sim Recap:
5-1 sim. We did indeed take the final 2 games from Seattle to force the split and then we promptly took 3 of 4 from Madison. Always good to beat on them. The offense rebounded in a big way and the pitching was solid again. Special shoutout to Pierre Cordona who swiped 9 bases over these 6 games. The offense always gets a nice boost when Frenchy is running wild.

Once again for the second sim in a row the injury bug reared its ugly head and mowed down another starting pitcher. This time it was Louis Hall who had gotten off to a great start since apparently gaining enough stamina over the offseason to start again. Its not a super terrible injury so he should be back in a few weeks but one always has to fear the lump monster when dealing with injuries. With this injury to a lefty starter the team will turn to young Bert Hugill to take a spin in the rotation awhile. A former 1st round prospect who had seemingly stalled out his development, Hugill made some progress over this past offseason and the team would like to try him out. If Hugill does end up filling out his potential at some point, he will be a fantastic pitcher for the Mounties. A lot of comparisons have been made to the current de facto ace of the staff Lambert Snabel who has absolutely thrived since coming over from Indy.

Still a lot of moving and shaking down on the farm so there isn't much concrete to report yet other than to say that the team signed all of its draft picks. There had been some thought about letting the first rounder walk and rolling it over to next year but in the end the team rightly signed him.

A Look Ahead:
Long Beach and Des Moines. Could be a very tough sim...
