Tension Surrounding Team Turns Into On-Field “Squabble”

“The chemistry on this team is fine,” said YS9 middle infielder J.J. McQuade, a youthful veteran who has emerged to be viewed as a leader on the team. “It’s hard to see the forest for the trees sometimes, you know? Roberto and John, they just want to win, and that’s a good thing, you know? We’ll take care of it.”

McQuade was talking about a recent shouting match between veteran outfielder Roberto Miranda and rookie second sacker John Charbonneau last week. The incident happened toward the end of a gut-wrenching 5-4 loss at Vancouver in which Miranda made one of the team’s three errors, allowing a Mountie run to score when he threw wildly and allowed a run to score. People close to the dugout say that the hot-headed rookie told Miranda that “this loss is on you, bud,” and that set off fireworks that were broadcast live and then replayed much of the night in “highlight” clips.

“John Charbonneau is a good guy,” McQuade said. “He’s just feeling his way into the league. He’s in an unusual spot, on a team that’s been here before. It can be an intimidating thing.”

Charbonneau didn’t seem to agree when asked for a comment later. “I’m not intimidated,” he said. “It’s not my fault Miranda threw the ball away.”

Miranda smirked when we approached him with the question, but had nothing to say.

So, yeah.

With the Nine still 4 and a half games back to the Wolves and only two weeks to make it up, sounds like we can look forward to more “squabbles” before the season’s over.

John John has been winning Zimmer awards since Charbonneau was a punk ass in Jr High. The kid needs to shut his mouth and work on hitting lefties.
