STAR HITTER SAYS HE REMAINS COMMITTED

Image
Days after this team lost in miserable fashion to Omaha in the Geoghegan Round, Lucas McNeill, one of the team’s core stars was embroiled in controversy when he stated that he was upset in the team’s performance. Why this was controversial we’ll never really know, as it seems only human, I mean…join the freaking ship, buddy…or as the dude from Tupelo said…Although it's always crowded, you still can find some room, for broken-hearted lovers, to cry away their gloom.

[ED: (*) The link is probably the most “fun” version of all.]

It’s not like McNeill asked for a trade of threw the manager under his well-deserved bus.

Regardless, senseless trolls jumped on the comment and next thing you knew a groundswell of resentment about rich kids and pop-star hubbies and whatnot started rolling, and you had your good-ole-fashioned modern-day viral convoy a-truckin on down the road.

Today McNeill took to the airways to clarify. “I love my team and this city,” McNeill said. “Me and Mikki have a house here. This is the organization I’ve been a part of for my entire career. I have no doubts that we’re going to be great next year and I wouldn’t want to be anyplace else.”

When asked to touch on the specifics of his commentary, he was direct.

“I was just saying what everyone could see. I don’t see any reason to pretend otherwise. I mean, we’ve all see what a disaster it can be to ignore the obvious. I mean, there’s a reason it now rains every day in Mexico City, right? We had a bad couple months. I’m as much to blame for that as anyone. We’ve just got to go home and think about getting better. That’s all I was trying to say.”

The Nine Superstar, who just turned 28, hit .296/.380/.531 for the team, with 31 homers. His 5.5 WAR was down from the miraculous 9.7 that saw him awarded the league’s prestigious Sawyer Silk Award.

Lol... good reads. When your team starts to implode, maybe you can bring Vanessa back as a Yoko Ono character.
