The Madison Wolves currently sit in 4th place in the Frick League Heartland division. While some may be concerned over that after 1/8th of the season, General Manager Chris Wilson is showing the exact opposite feel.

"You look at where we are in the standings and there may be reason for concern, but we are actually pleased with it right now? stated Wilson. "When you look at who we have played and who has been our our schedule up to this point, to say we are three games over .500 right now and just .5 games back of being in first place is a good sign moving forward for this team."

The Wolves currently sit at 15-12 in record which is just .5 games back despite being in 4th place overall. The Wolves have had a fairly difficult schedule to start the season with five of the team's six opponents this series currently having winning records and four of the six series being played against teams who made it to the post-season in 2031.

"Exactly" said Wilson. "We've pretty much played either a team who made the post-season a year ago or a team that is off to a hot start this season right out of the gate. This should only mean we will catch some breaks moving forward and start to see some weaker teams on our schedule where hopefully we can capitalize and move up even more in the standings."

One concern for the Wolves may be the fact they've been outscored by 6 runs this season giving them a negative pythag record at the moment. The cause of that is two-fold. One problem is the offense is yet to start clicking. The offense was expected to be the tops in the Frick League this season but is currently just 4th in runs scored and is outside the top 5 in five categories. But the clear concern yet again is the pitching. The 136 runs allowed at this point are the most allowed by an FL team with the staff as a whole ranking dead last in 5 pitching categories.

"The offense will come around" said Wilson. "Not sure what to think about the slow pitching start. Hopefully its just a slow start and will pick up. With that said, when our offense starts to click, and if the pitching gets in a groove, watch out Frick."

Oh boo-hoo. Your offense is only 5th in runs scored. My heart bleeds with sympathy.
